Private Pesticide License

Renewals

Private pesticide licenses need to be renewed every 3 years.  To keep your license active you must attend a training either in your own county or another county.  If you are unable to attend a training you will need to take a 60 question exam and pass with a 70% score.  The exam will be taken in a monitored environment.

Initial

If you let your license expire or are new to the program and want to obtain a license, you can attend a training hosted by a local Extension Agent and take a 30 question exam or you can make an appointment with your local Extension Agent to take the 60 question exam.

Commercial Pesticide License

Renewal

Commercial pesticide licenses need to be renewed every 3 years.  To keep your license active you must attend a training at any of the specified locations throughout the state.   If you are unable to attend a training you will need to take the Core test and any supplemental test you are applying for.  The test will be taken in a monitored environment.

Initial

If you are applying for the first time, you will need to request study
materials from the NDSU Pesticide Department.  After you have received your study materials from NDSU you will then set up an appointment with your local Extension Agent to take the exams.  The year that you request study materials is the year you must test.  If you do not test by December 31 of that year you will forfeit your fees and will have to reapply for the materials the next year.
