August 9, 2010 Horticulture Column

Well the weather definitely got hot.  Saturday and Sunday was really hot.  I was out fishing and drank lots of water.  Fishing was o.k. also.  Well the North Dakota State Horticulture society will be in town on Friday and Saturday, August 13 and 14.  The meeting will take place at Lake Region State College and begins at 9 am with a featured speaker.  Garden tours will begin Friday at 10:30 and will visit three homes in Devils Lake.  There will also be an arboretum tour.  There will be educational activities both days and will feature a horticulturist from Winnipeg.  There will be many concurrent sessions with very good information for all home owners.  This event is open to all community members and has a registration fee of $60 for the present membership and $65 for those who are not members.  This is also a $20 dollar membership fee if you wish to become a member.  You do not have to attend both days and I am not sure of the fee for one day attendance but there is a smaller amount.  You do not have to be a member to partake in the event so come one come all to Lake Region State College on August 13 and/or the 14th.

We have been getting a lot of calls about bee intrusion and if you have any good remedies please give me a call.  Any help would be great.  701-662-7030.
