July 18, 2011 Horticulture Column

I know that all of you have seen the advertisement for the Relay For Life Garden tour to be held this coming Thursday, July 21, but am putting in another plug for the day.  Come one come all to see the beautiful landscaped yards in the Leeds North Dakota area.  Some of you might say, why Leeds but we need to remember that first off Leeds is not that far away (only 25 miles), secondly NO road construction to deal with, thirdly Leeds just finished with their 125 year reunion meaning that many landscapers did an extra nice job of manicure and last but most importantly I have seen a couple of these landscapes and if you cannot come up with an idea from these tour homes your not looking in the right direction.  The day starts at 3 pm and continues through 9 pm.  See you in Leeds.

This past weekend was one of the most miserable weekends I have probably ever spent in heat.  It is not because of the heat but the humidity really gets to me.  I woke up Sunday morning to a cup of coffee on the deck and soon found myself gasping for air.  It did not take long to retreat back into the camper to start over again and once I got things focused I was off and running but really slow. The grandkids felt like they were in heaven due to the water park that was erected next to our campsite.  The slide down the slides and played on that fun filled blow up water park for three days and went home tire little cookies again.
