PLSC 496 (Crop & Weed Sciences and Horticulture)

Field Experience

This course is a short-term educational experience or internship during the summer (approximately 13 weeks) in which companies throughout the U.S. provide Crop & Weed Sciences and Horticulture undergraduate students with work experiences and the opportunities for professional development. Students are graded on the completion of seven reports (three reports during the summer and four reports for the fall semester) for 1 credit each period. Students' expectations from a field experience vary with each individual and the work experience. It is hoped that the field experience will provide the student an opportunity to broaden basic skills, develop new skills, and gain an understanding of a specific organization/company and the people who work within it. A field experience is one of the most beneficial opportunities available to Plant Sciences students. 1 credit for summer; 1 credit for fall. Department approval required to register.
