Extension Agronomist
Assistant Professor
Sugarbeet and Weed Science

Plant Sciences Extension Information

The focus of the sugarbeet and weed science project is a ‘systems approach’ to weeds management in sugarbeet. That is, emphasizing weed control in the field that is planted to sugarbeet one year in three, four or five years. A systems approach takes advantage of herbicides in rotational crops that may be more efficacious on tough-to-control weeds than those used in sugarbeet. The systems approach in sugarbeet is a combination of soil-applied and postemergence herbicides.
