Senay Simsek Featured in AES Research Profile

Dr. Senay Simsek

Dr. Senay Simsek, associate professor and Wheat Quality and Carbohydrate Research project leader, has been featured in a research profile published by the ND Agricultural Experiment Station.  The profile details the focus and impact of Simsek's research, the opportunities that exist to make connections globally through her work, and her involvement in teaching and mentoring students.

Simsek has worked at NDSU since 2007.  Her research focuses on the effects of the chemical composition of wheat (particularly hard red spring wheat) on end-product quality.  According to Simsek, part of her job is to highlight the unique quality aspects of ND hard red spring wheat, of which more than half is exported overseas, resulting in a significant impact on North Dakota's economy.

Simsek works with a staff of five food technologists/research specialists.  She has four graduate and two undergraduate students working in her program and she teaches three graduate level courses at NDSU.
