Schwarz Participates in International Panel Presentation on Mycotoxin Control

Malting and Brewing Quality project leader Dr. Paul Schwarz participated in a panel discussion presentation during the first European Commission MycoKey Technological Workshop in in Helsinki, Finland May 23-24, 2018. The title of the presentation was “Science meets practice: A joint effort to fight against mycotoxins – Is it possible and what are the critical steps?”

Malting and Brewing Quality project leader Dr. Paul Schwarz participated in a panel discussion presentation during the first European Commission MycoKey Technological Workshop in in Helsinki, Finland May 23-24, 2018. The international panelists were top experts in science, industry and crop production, and the title of the presentation was, Science meets practice: A joint effort to fight against mycotoxins – Is it possible and what are the critical steps? All panelists except Schwarz were from European Union countries.

The MycoKey project was formed to address food and feed security and safety; the sustainability of food production, processing and consumption; and food chain concerns from production to consumption. It is funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 programme Societal Challenge 2 Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine, maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy: Biological contamination of crops and the food chain.

Seventy participants from 17 different countries attended the workshop, which was titled Integrated preventive actions to avoid mycotoxins in malting and brewing.
