Plant Sciences Members to Attend National Agronomy and Crop Meetings

NDSU Plant Sciences faculty and graduate students will be attending the 2013 International Agronomy Society of America, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America meetings in Tampa, FL, November 3-6.

NDSU Plant Sciences faculty and graduate students will be attending the 2013 International Agronomy Society of America, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America meetings in Tampa, FL, November   3-6.  The group will present more than 20 oral research summaries and posters to scientists, professionals, educators and students attending the meetings. 

One NDSU representative, Juan Osorno, Associate Professor and Dry Edible Bean Breeder, will participate in a symposium titled “Yield Gains through Genetics and Breeding”. The symposium will feature presentations on yield improvements of more than 11 major U.S. crops over the last 60 years, and will form the basis of a book to be published at a later date. Osorno’s lecture is titled “Yield Gains in Dry Bean in the U.S.” 

The title of the conference is “Water, Food, Energy and Innovation for a Sustainable World” and will be attended by more than 4,000 people.  Information about the meetings can be found at https://www.acsmeetings.org/.    

A reunion of all NDSU Plant Sciences conference attendees will be held Nov. 4 from 7 to 9 pm in Room 2 at the Marriott Tampa Waterside Hotel.
