Plant Sciences Employees Recognized at Annual Awards Program

Plant Sciences information processing specialist Kamie Beeson was awarded the Donald and Jo Anderson Staff Award, and nine other department employees were honored during the annual NDSU Agriculture and Extension Faculty/Staff Awards program.

Ten Department of Plant Sciences faculty and staff were nominated for North Dakota State University Agriculture and Extension Faculty /Staff Awards, with one winning an award. The program, which honors employees in the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources (CAFSNR), was held on December 10 in the Great Room of the NDSU Memorial Union.

Kamie Beeson won the Donald and Jo Anderson Staff Award. According to the Office of the Vice President for Agricultural Affairs, this award “recognizes significant contributions to the mission of NDSU Agriculture and Extension by clerical staff’.” Beeson is the information processing specialist for the Department of Plant Sciences.

Professor Clifford Hall was nominated for the William J. & Angelyn A. Austin Excellence in Advising Award; agricultural research technician David Hanson was nominated for the Rick and Jody Burgum Staff Award; professor Burton Johnson was nominated for the H. Roald and Janet Lund Excellence in Teaching Award; Extension horticulturist Thomas Kalb was nominated for the AGSCO Excellence in Extension Award; professor Frank Manthey was nominated for the Eugene R. Dahl Excellence in Research Award; professor Kevin McPhee was nominated for the Larson/Yaggie Excellence in Research Award; assistant professor of practice Rebekah Oliver was nominated for the Earl and Dorothy Foster Excellence in Teaching Award; Extension potato agronomist Andrew Robinson was nominated for the Myron & Muriel Johnson Excellence in Extension/Outreach Award; and research specialist Kevin Rue was nominated for the Charles and Linda Moses Staff Award.

Congratulations and awards were presented by President Dean Bresciani, Provost Beth Ingram, Vice President for Agricultural Affairs and Dean of CAFSNR Kenneth Grafton, Associate Dean for Academic Programs in CAFSNR David Buchanan, and the Director of the NDSU Extension Service Chris Boerboom.
