Department of Plant Sciences graduate Kellie Podliska, M.S., presented an exit seminar on her research, titled Efficacy of Current Bt Traits Against Corn Rootworms in North Dakota, on August 14, 2015. Podliska’s work examined corn hybrids expressing the current Bt traits available to producers, as well as soil applied insecticide, and their efficacy against corn rootworms in North Dakota.

Podliska, a Lidgerwood, North Dakota native, earned her B.S. degree in Crop and Weed Sciences at NDSU in 2013. While an undergraduate student she interned for Novozymes BioAg (now Monsanto BioAg) in 2012. Her respect for the the value of research conducted at NDSU Plant Sciences and her appreciation of department faculty enticed her to remain on campus to earn her M.S. degree.

Podliska is currently a Sales Agronomist at Deb’s Seed Sales in Lidgerwood. The locally owned business sells DeKalb, Asgrow and Westbred seed and is operated by Podliska’s family.

Podliska’s graduate committee included Dr. Marisol Berti, Dr. Mark Boetel, and co-advisers Dr. Joel Ransom and Dr. Janet Knodel.
