Two Department of Plant Sciences undergraduate students were awarded North Dakota Corn Growers Association (NDCGA) $1000 scholarships in October. Vincent Carruth and Blake Nelson are Crop and Weed Sciences majors and plan to work as agronomists in agriculture industry after graduation.

Carruth is a freshman from Ellendale, ND and is advised by Dr. Edward Deckard. Nelson is a sophomore from Gwinner, ND and his advisor is Dr. Xiwen Cai.

There were ten NDCGA scholarships available for undergraduate students. The students submitted an application, a description of career plans, recommendation letters, a resume, and a copy of their most recent transcript, as well proof of membership in the NDCGA.

The NDCGA scholarship is an external scholarship available to all students meeting qualifications. Information on the 2019-2020 scholarship is now available and applications are due January 4, 2019. For information, see http://www.ndcorn.org/corngrowers/news-resources/scholarship-form/.
