2018 NDSU Crop Variety Releases Announced

The North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station released new crop varieties ND18008GT soybean and ND Hammond flax in 2018. ND18008GT soybean, ND Eagle lentil (2016), ND Grano durum (2017) and ND Riveland durum (2017) were distributed for the first time by the North Dakota County Seed Increase Program in the spring of 2018. ND Hammond flax will be distributed in the spring of 2019.

Sixth graders at Ben Franklin Middle School in Fargo were treated to a hands-on food science lesson during their regular science class last week. Dr. Senay Simsek along with research specialists Kristin Whitney and Nathan Haugrud and graduate students Jane Snelling and Aslihan Unuvar were welcomed by Mr. Travis Hoeg to teach about the science of taste and how different ingredients are used in food applications.
