Agronomy Alumnus Frank LeGrand Recognized

Agronomy alumnus Frank LeGrand was recognized at spring commencement as the only living graduate from NDSU's first class of doctoral students.

In 1963, Frank "Ed" LeGrand was one of five students to graduate in the first class of doctoral students from NDSU. He studied agronomy under adviser Glenn Smith.  After receiving his degree, he worked as a professor at Oklahoma State University and was later named professor and director of Oklahoma Pedigreed Seed Services.  He retired in 1994 and lives in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he continues to farm and ranch.

Today LeGrand is the only living member of that first class of doctoral students.  He was recognized at NDSU spring commencement on May 11, 2013, the 50th anniversary of NDSU's first doctoral degree conferral.

LeGrand was also featured in The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead on May 10, 2013, in an article by Ryan Johnson.
