How to submit a grant for internal NDSU approval

  1. Email the Intent to Submit Grant Form to the grant coordinator as soon as you plan to pursue a grant. Include the RFP (Request for Proposal) in your email.
  2. Email the following forms, in an editable format, to the grant coordinator, at least10 working days prior to the sponsor's deadline.
    • Budget Justification - Check these links for Tips & Hints and an Example Budget Justification.
    • Budget - Many sponsors require a specific budget format. If not, you can use this generic Budget Template. Please see RFP or ask the Grant Coordinator if you have questions.
    • Project Narrative or Summary - Only a draft narrative or a project summary is required for NDSU approval. You can continue to work on the project narrative as NDSU approval is attained.
    • Cover page (if applicable) - Some sponsors have their own cover page which needs NDSU's signature.
    • Approval letter(s) (if applicable) - If you have a sub award on your proposal, be sure to get an approval letter from the sub awards grants office. You will not get NDSU's approval if you do not have these letters.
  3. Once your proposal has been submitted for internal approval you will receive an approval email from Sponsored Program Administration in approximately 5-7 days. You or Sponsored Programs will then submit your proposal to the Sponsor.
