Upinder Gill

Dr. Upinder Gill is an Assistant professor at North Dakota State University. Before joining NDSU, Dr. Gill earned his Ph.D. in 2012 from Washington State University under the guidance of Dr. Andris Kleinhofs, followed by postdoctoral training at Noble Research Institute and the University of Florida. His primary research responsibilities include the management of wheat rust diseases using genetics, genomics, and molecular plant pathology tools. His research program focuses on (i) developing durable rust resistance in wheat, (ii) Host and pathogen genomics, and (iii) Understanding host-pathogen interactions to develop new disease management tools. Dr. Gill is also working closely with plant pathologists, plant breeders, and geneticists at NDSU and USDA-ARS to support research efforts on the management of multiple rust diseases in North Dakota. Dr. Gill is assisted in his research by Matt Breiland.
