Requirements to Show Sheep, Goats and Swine.

Requirements for Goats and Sheep
ALL sexually intact goats and/or sheep used for breeding purposes REQUIRE official Scrapie Identification tags at
shows/exhibitions which includes the Pierce County Fair and 4-H Achievement Days. These tags are available from
the Pierce County Extension office.
The following groups need NO ID and have NO movement restrictions:
• Lambs (ewes, ram lambs and wethers under 18 months of age) moving into slaughter channels.
• Goats (wethers, does and bucks of any age) moving into slaughter channels.
Breed registration tattoos may also be used in place of official Scrapie ID tags when the animal is accompanied by
its registration paper or a photocopy or a completed application for registration. This information is required for
animals to be unloaded from the trailer at the fair.
As always please feel free to contact the Pierce County Extension office at 776-6234 ext. 5 with any questions or
concerns you may have.
Requirements for Swine
If your 4-H’er is planning on exhibiting swine this year, please see the attached health recommendation form as
ALL swine coming to the fair will need a health certificate.
