The State Board of Agricultural Research and Education has two new members and two starting second terms.

Julie Zikmund and Doug Bichler are joining North Dakota’s State Board of Agricultural Research and Education (SBARE).

Their four-year terms begin July 1.

Also, Lance Gulleson and Mark Birdsall will begin their second four-year terms July 1.

SBARE works with the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and North Dakota State University Extension to identify needs, establish funding priorities and set policies.

Zikmund is a partner with her husband and two sons on their Walsh County farm near Pisek and the program manager of the Extended Learning Nutrition Certificates Program at the University of North Dakota. She will represent NDSU Extension’s Multicounty Program Units 3 and 4 on SBARE. Those units are in northeastern North Dakota.

Bichler operates the family farm with his wife and nephew and Bichler Simmentals and Red Angus, a seedstock business, near Linton. Birdsall is a Berthold-area farmer and partner in Birdsall Grain and Seed. They are North Dakota Ag Coalition representatives on SBARE.

Gulleson, a partner in Gulleson Farm and Ranch and owner and principal agent for Farmers Union Insurance in Lisbon, represents Extension’s Multicounty Program Units 5 and 6 on SBARE. Those units are in southeastern North Dakota.
