Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop Set for Feb. 13-14

Agricultural professionals will learn about topics that help them enhance their crop production recommendations.

The 2018 Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop is scheduled for Feb. 13-14 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo.

The workshop is designed to provide in-depth discussion on topics to help agricultural professionals enhance their crop production recommendations for farmers.

The North Dakota State University Extension Service and University of Minnesota Extension are organizing and conducting the workshop.

Educational sessions on Feb. 13 are:

  • Successful technology implementation: You’ve probably been doing it wrong
  • Ag data: If your fields could talk, what would they say?
  • Plant pathology and entomology roundup
  • How much do resistant weeds really cost?
  • Iron deficiency chlorosis: Soil and plant answers to a festering problem

Also, the North Dakota certified crop adviser (CCA) of the year will be recognized during lunch.

Feb. 14 educational sessions are:

  • 2018 farm profitability and formula for higher farm profits: 5 percent rule
  • Considerations for improvement of soil health
  • Overhaul of potassium recommendations in North Dakota
  • Herbicide spraying is done, or is it? Catch my drift?
  • Herbicide stewardship: Navigating the right direction

Preregistration is required by Feb. 5. The workshop fee is $140, or $75 if attending only one day. The fee includes three meals, refreshment breaks and reference materials.

The workshop is limited to 150 people. Preregistrations will be accepted on a first-come basis. Walk-in registrations during the workshop will not be accepted.

CCAs will have the opportunity to receive 12 continuing education units.
