2018 Field to Fork Webinar Schedule Set

Sign up to learn about buying seeds, gardening in small spaces, developing and selling food products, and much more.

The North Dakota State University Extension Service again will be hosting the Field to Fork webinar series starting in February 2018.

Experts from across the region will provide information about growing, transporting, processing and serving specialty-crop fruits and vegetables safely.

The “Field to Fork Wednesday Weekly Webinars” will begin Feb. 14. They’ll be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Central time through April 25.

The webinars are free of charge.

Topics that will be covered are:

  • Feb. 14: Great Seeds and Where to Buy Them in 2018 - Tom Kalb, NDSU Extension horticulturist
  • Feb. 21: Tomatoes, Peppers and Cucumbers: A Snapshot of NDSU’s High-tunnel Research Project - Kyla Splichal, horticulture research specialist, NDSU Williston Research Extension Center
  • Feb. 28: GMOs: Separating Fact From Emotion - Esther McGinnis, assistant professor and NDSU Extension horticulturist
  • March 7: Gardening in Small Spaces - Yolanda Schmidt, NDSU Extension agent, agriculture and natural resources, Pierce County
  • March 14: The Health Benefits of Gardening - Julie Garden-Robinson, NDSU Extension food and nutrition specialist
  • March 21: Developing and Selling Food Products That are Safe and Tasty - Clifford Hall, professor, food science, NDSU Plant Sciences Department
  • March 28: Weed Management and Soil Fertility for Organic Vegetable Production - Greta Gramig, associate professor, NDSU Plant Sciences Department
  • April 4: North Dakota Cottage Food Law - Julie Wagendorf, director, North Dakota Department of Health, Division of Food and Lodging
  • April 11: Pesticide Safety: Minimizing Exposure - Andrew Thostenson, NDSU Extension Pesticide Program specialist
  • April 18: Safe Food Sampling at Farmers Markets and Other Venues - Suzanne Driessen, Extension educator, food science, University of Minnesota
  • April 25: Using Scarce Resources: Square Foot Gardening and Raised Beds - Todd Weinmann, NDSU Extension agent, agriculture and natural resources - horticulture, Cass County

The webinars will be held on Zoom. The Field to Fork website (https://www.ag.ndsu.edu/fieldtofork) has a link to register for the webinars.
