Soil Health Improvement Workshop Set
Crop and livestock producers will have an opportunity to learn about improving their soil’s health during a workshop the North Dakota State University Extension Service’s Wells County office is hosting March 23.
The workshop will be held in Festival Hall on the Wells County Fairgrounds in Fessenden. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Topics that will be covered include updates on corn, soybean and sunflower fertility research; enhancing a forage-based livestock system; managing rye in a soybean or dry bean system; and cover crops.
The event also will include wind erosion and water infiltration demonstrations, and a question-and-answer session.
Speakers include an NDSU agronomist, NDSU Extension soil health specialist, crop and soil testing consultant, and Natural Resources Conservation soil health specialist.
The registration fee is $20 if paid by March 20 and $30 after that date. The fee includes lunch.
