She will work with a team of Extension professionals to provide financial programming.

Carrie Johnson has joined the North Dakota State University Extension Service as an assistant professor, and personal and family finance specialist.

Johnson will work with a team of Extension, research and academic professionals to provide program leadership in the area of family and personal finance, financial literacy and consumer-related issues. She also will partner with agricultural specialists to develop farm and family financial programming.

She most recently was employed at South Dakota State University as an assistant professor and family resource management specialist with SDSU Extension. She has taught classes on consumer affairs and building financial foundations for educators.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in English for Information Systems from Dakota State University, Madison, S.D., a master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from SDSU and her doctorate in Family and Consumer Science Education from Iowa State University in Ames.

“I’m excited to welcome Carrie to the NDSU Extension Service team,” said Deb Gebeke, NDSU Extension assistant director and program leader for family and consumer sciences. “Her previous experience implementing family resource management programs, securing grants for research and working collaboratively with other Extension specialists make her a valuable financial resource for North Dakota citizens.”
