NDSU Sets Best of the Best in Wheat and Soybean Meetings

Learn about research results addressing some of the most critical issues facing soybean and wheat producers.

Four Best of the Best in Research and Marketing meetings have been set for February in Grand Forks, Moorhead, Minn., Dickinson and Minot.

The first series of meetings will be held at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks on Feb. 4 and at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Moorhead on Feb. 5. Both meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The second series of meetings will be in Dickinson at the Ramada Grand Dakota Lodge on Feb. 11, followed by a meeting in Minot at the Holiday Inn Riverside on Feb. 12. Both meetings begin at 9 a.m.

The first series of meetings will review recent research findings on issues that impact soybean and wheat production. Hans Kandel, NDSU Extension agronomist and one of the organizers, emphasized that the topics covered by the program are those considered to be most important to the farmers for which relevant research findings are available.

“The second series of meetings will primarily focus on issues related to wheat production and marketing,” says Joel Ransom, NDSU Extension agronomist and one of the organizers of the events in the western part of the state.

Hands-on demonstrations are planned at all of the locations.

“These hands-on demonstrations are a signature part of the program,” says Kandel. “This section is well received because participants get a chance to interact with the presenters and see live plant material.”

A noon lunch will be provided at each venue. There is no participation fee but advanced registration is encouraged.

To register or see the agenda for any of the meetings go to http://smallgrains.org/best/, or to register by phone for the Grand Forks and Moorhead meetings call (800) 242-6118, ext. 3. To register by phone for the meetings in Dickinson and Minot call the North Dakota Wheat Commission at (701) 328-5111.

These meetings are sponsored by the Minnesota and North Dakota wheat and soybean grower and checkoff organizations, in conjunction with the University of Minnesota and NDSU Extension Services.
