NDSU Athletes to be Awarded Scholarships During Harvest Bowl

More than $125,000 in scholarships have been awarded to NDSU student athletes.

Fifteen scholarships will be awarded to outstanding North Dakota State University female and male athletes during this year’s Harvest Bowl festivities Nov. 8-9 in Fargo. The NDSU Harvest Bowl program also recognizes the work of agriculturists in 53 counties in North Dakota and several in Minnesota.

A special agribusiness award goes to an individual who has a distinguished career in agriculture and business. This year’s award recipient is Richard Frohberg, former NDSU wheat breeder and geneticist.

Harvest Bowl scholarship awardees, sport, hometown and major are:

Harvest Bowl Scholarship – Marshall Bjorklund, basketball, Arlington, Minn., agricultural systems management

Harvest Bowl Scholarship in honor of Robert Johansen – Caitlin Mack, track, Watertown, S.D., exercise science

Gene Dahl Scholarship – Andrew Grothmann, football, Hillsboro, agricultural economics

Scott and Ann Dau Family Scholarship – Lauren Cammack, volleyball, DeWitt, Neb., criminal justice

John and Kay Dean Harvest Bowl Scholarship – Landon Lechler, football, Beach, crop and weed sciences

Myron and Muriel Johnsrud Harvest Bowl Endowment Fund – Kevin Vaadeland, football, Park Rapids, Minn., university studies

LeVon C. Kirkeide, Patricia Kirkeide-Hagemeister and Friends Scholarship – Emma Kusick, golf, Minot, microbiology

Darrell Larson Family Scholarship – Ryan Smith, football, Wahpeton, business administration

Bob Lauf Memorial Scholarship – Ryan Drevlow, football, Gwinner, electrical engineering

Ron and Karen Offutt Scholarship – Anthony Caputo, wrestling, Red Lake Falls, Minn., agribusiness

Red River Commodities Scholarship – Brian Blasey, track, Ada, Minn., general agriculture

Titan Machinery Scholarship – Alec Espeland, track, Pierre, S.D., microbiology

#64 Bob and #58 Bruce Yaggie Father-Son Football Scholarship – Cole Davis, football, Kearney, Mo., agribusiness

Bob and Darlene Yaggie Football Scholarship – Brian Schaetz, football, Denmark, Wis., university studies

Gooseneck Implement/Green Iron Equipment Scholarship – Sierra Rosenau, track, Carrington, human development and family science

The 40th annual Harvest Bowl festivities begin Friday, Nov. 8, at the Fargo Ramada Plaza Suites with a dinner and awards ceremony. On Saturday, honorees will participate in educational sessions on the NDSU campus and attend the Harvest Bowl football game.
