Kalb Joins NDSU as Horticulture Specialist

Thomas Kalb II has joined the NDSU Extension Service as horticulture specialist.

Thomas Kalb II has joined the North Dakota State University Extension Service as horticulture specialist for western North Dakota.

This is a new position that will be based at the Burleigh County Extension office in Bismarck. His area of responsibility will be west of N.D. Highway 3, which runs north to south in North Dakota and crosses I-94 approximately 40 miles east of Bismarck.

Kalb received his B.S. degree in plant sciences from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He received his M.S. degree in plant breeding from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and his doctorate in horticulture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg.

For several years, Kalb was head of the Communication and Training Office at the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center in Shanhua, Taiwan. Prior to joining NDSU, he was a horticulture educator in numerous counties for the University of Wisconsin Extension Service. He began his duties at NDSU on March 31.
