NDSU President to Lead Conversations Across the Land Tour

NDSU President Joseph Chapman will travel the state this summer to lead a ""Conversations Across the Land"" tour.

North Dakota State University President Joseph Chapman and his wife, Gale, will travel across the state this summer to lead a ""Conversations Across the Land"" tour.

The tour also will feature other NDSU personnel, such as Gene Taylor, NDSU athletic director. The tour in many areas will be held in conjunction with annual field days at NDSU's Research Extension Centers.

""Since the university's founding in 1890, there has been a special relationship between NDSU and the people of North Dakota,"" Chapman says. ""This tour continues this great tradition."

Dates and times for the tour are:

June 27 – Central Grassland Research Extension Center field day, Streeter: 6 p.m., dedication of Research Extension Center office addition; 6:30 p.m., tours of the center; 8:30 p.m., community meal at Streeter Hall and greetings by Chapman

July 10 – Hettinger Research Extension Center field day; 3 p.m., alternative crops tour; 5 p.m., small-grains tour; 7 p.m., community celebration dinner at Mirror Lake Park with remarks by Chapman

July 11 – Dickinson Research Extension Center field day: 7:30 a.m., breakfast; 8 a.m., opening remarks by Chapman; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., various livestock and crop tours; 4 p.m., greetings from NDSU; 5:30 p.m., meal sponsored and coordinated by the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce

July 12 – Williston Research Extension Center field day: 9 a.m., refreshments; 9:30 a.m., tours of the center; 11:30 a.m., community celebration lunch prepared and served by the Williston Chamber of Commerce agriculture committee with comments by Chapman

July 17 – Carrington Research Extension Center field day: 8:45 a.m., opening and refreshments; 9:30 a.m., center tours; noon, community celebration lunch with remarks by Chapman; 1:15 p.m., tours of center continue

July 18 – North Central Research Extension Center field day, Minot: 9 a.m., refreshments and rolls; 9:30 a.m., center tours; noon, community celebration lunch with remarks by Chapman and dedication of the agronomy research lab and greenhouse; 1:30 p.m., tours continue

July 18 – Devils Lake: 6 p.m., social at the Devils Lake Town and Country Club; 6:30, community celebration dinner with remarks by Chapman and information on the Lake Region partnership strategic plan for value-added agriculture

July 19 – Langdon Research Extension Center field day: 8 a.m., refreshments; 8:30 a.m., tours of the center; noon, community celebration lunch with remarks by Chapman
