Barley Growers Complete Survey and Receive Prizes

Approximately 1,400 barley growers responded to a survey produced by the NDSU Institute of Barley and Malt Sciences.

Sixty barley growers from North Dakota, Montana and Idaho are winners. They were chosen from 1,200 growers who completed and returned a barley production and information survey to the Institute of Barley and Malt Sciences (IBMS) at North Dakota State University.

The survey was sent out in November. Growers who completed and returned the survey by Dec. 15 were entered into a drawing for prizes, including $50 gasoline cards and other items. Approximately 1,400 growers have responded to the survey.

The IBMS will share the results of the survey with stakeholders after the surveys are tabulated and analyzed.

The survey was a joint effort of the IBMS, USDA/CSREES-funded Barley Coordinated Agricultural Project (CAP), Idaho Barley Commission, North Dakota Barley Council and Montana Wheat and Barley Committee.

Prizes were donated by the American Malting Barley Association, Anheuser-Busch, Cargill Malt, International Malting Co., Molson-Coors Brewing and Rahr Malting Co.
