Livestock Identification Forms
Animal Exhibition at the Nelson County Fair
Please submit Animal ID forms on a per family basis. All pets or livestock shown must be in the 4-H member’s possession (owned or leased), and managed by May 1st. Large animals must also be tagged. If you are leasing your animal, you must provide a copy of your lease to the Extension Office. Animal Identification forms are due in the Extension Office by May 17th. Please included animals on your FairEntry registration when you register all exhibits. There are three separate Animal ID forms depending on exhibition: Horse, Large Animal, Small Animal. Please read the State Fair Book to its entirety for animals you plan to exhibit.
If a 4-Her plans to exhibit livestock, they must be Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) certified. Your certificate number is available on the YQCA website: https://yqca.learngrow.io. Please contact Katelyn if you need to become certified or need help obtaining your certificate #.
Animals must be healthy in order to exhibit. There will not be a veterinarian on site at the Nelson County Fair. Please leave your animal home if it is showing signs of sickness or infection. It’s not worth the risk. The health of an animal at the Fair will be at the judge’s discretion.
Sheep and Goats
If you are bringing a Sheep or Goat - please use a Scrapie ID tag for Animal ID method on the Identification Form. See State Fair Book for complete details.
Poultry
If you are planning on exhibiting birds in North Dakota, you have one of three choices:
1. Become a National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) flock
2. Test exhibition birds within 90 days of the exhibition*
3. Purchase exhibition birds from NPIP sources (flock, hatchery or retail location selling from an NPIP-approved source)
