Managing Wheat Midge

Wheat Midge

The wheat midge is one of the most destructive pests of wheat. The larvae feed on the kernel and negatively affect yield, grade and quality. The 2011 North Dakota forecast for wheat midge risk has increased significantly from 2010. However, there are cultural, biological and chemical methods to control wheat midge.
