Late Blight Found in MN and MB

Late blight has been found in multiple farms in MN and also found in MB. The genotype has been identified as US23. Growers should watch their crop at harvest and after harvest for the presence of late blight tuber infection. Post-harvest application of Phostrol or a similar product can reduce spread of late blight in storage.

Be aware that late blight has been found in multiple farms in MN and also found in MB. The late blight in MN was found in fields in September and continues to be found in tubers. The genotype has been identified as US23. Additional late blight has also been recently found in WI. Growers should watch their crop at harvest and after harvest for the presence of late blight tuber infection. Suspect tubers can be sent to Gary Secor or Neil Gudmestad for confirmation. Post-harvest application of Phostrol or a similar product can reduce spread of late blight in storage.  Let us know if you have questions.
