Aphid Alert August 17
Another week with high aphid pressure. We are seeing more green peach aphid across many sites including a whopping 18 from the Sabin trap! Soybean aphid numbers are still high. Several locations have risk indices in the double digits: Ada, Perham, Sabin, and Tappen.
The new and improved PVY-VRI (Vector Risk Index) weekly values are included on the table and the cumulative seasonal (to Aug 10) and the 2014 maps are also now available. Remembher, the PVY-VRI presents the Vector Risk potential as compared to green peach aphid (a weekly reading of 5.2 would be estimated to be the same potential vector pressure as if 5.2 green peach aphids were recovered in the trap). The maps present a comparison between the current season's vector pressure and the total vector pressure in 2014.
All results are available on the blog pages at:

Results without maps are at:

We will be updating the umn.edu site with maps soon.
