NDNC Board Highlights - January 2018

Summary of NDNC Board Meeting

January 3, 2018

  • Meeting was via conference call with all board members participating.
  • NDNC ‘s total assets are $22, 710.39 in checking and money market savings. 
  • The Council has 110 members.  May 1 to June 30 is the membership/renewal time frame.  July 1 to September 30 enrollment would be charged a late fee. 
  • A postcard-sized marketing handout to distribute to students was developed to encourage NDNC membership.
  • The Fall newsletter, sent by MailChimp, was opened by 50% or the receivers with 16% clicking on a link within the newsletter.
  • The online vote for the Article 4 By-Lay change was passed with 92% in favor (57 votes) and 8% not in favor (6 votes).  The vote concerned the sentence, “a student must currently be enrolled full time as defined…..”
  • Possible conference speakers were suggested and discussed.  The April 18, 2018 NDNC Conference will have the theme of nutrition through the lifecycle.
  • Nine applicants for the NDNC Education Scholarship were received.  A committee will be assembled to review the applications.
  • 10 NDNC Mini-Grant application have been received.  $4000 is available for grant awards. 
  • It was decided that the NDNC Conference Scholarship (new) Application would be simple with the applicant to state how the conference information would benefit the applicant and others.
  • The Outreach Tool Kit contents were discussed.  This kit would contain items to place at a booth or table at a community event.  A $200 award to use for event supplies, along with the borrowed kit, may be requested by any NDNC member.
  • NDNC is still in search of a member to fill the vice-president position.  Contacts will continue to be made to fill this board vacancy.
