Most rewarding – making a difference in a person's life….teaching them new life skills so they make changes in their lives.

A bachelor degree in a field related to Family Consumer Sciences. The degree could be dietetics, family sciences or education.

I’ve been in this career for 28 years so really cannot remember what I wish I would’ve know but didn’t but I guess the biggest surprise to new employees is the variety of hours worked and the mass knowledge needed in lots of subject areas.

As with the day, all these conditions change, some days are very hectic, some days quiet. A lot of the community programs are during the evenings hours or weekends. Travel varies also. It is not intensive but there is some.
