Meeting Minutes 2015

NDAAEA Fall 2015 Meeting (October 14; Bismarck Radisson)

Meeting was called to order by Association president Todd Weinmann.

Twelve guests were introduced among the 55 persons who signed the attendance sheet.

Chris Bruynis, North Central Region Director (Ohio State University) provided a brief overview of NACAA activities.

Chris Boerboom, Extension Service Director, provided updates on the Employee Incentive program, open Extension positions and recent Community Forums.

Secretary’s Report: Greg Endres moved and Willie Huot seconded to approve the fall 2014 meeting minutes as posted on the Association’s website. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Bank balance (Oct. 2, 2015) = $5773.09; savings = $1571.00; 4-H Foundation account = $45,908.50. John Kringler moved and Bill Hodous seconded to approve the report. Motion carried. Willie Huot moved and Chris Augustin seconded to pay $487 to ESP for their share of 2014 Fall Conference auction proceeds. Motion carried.

Old Business:

  • NDAAEA Professional Improvement Summer tour: Reviewed by Craig Askim, chair. 15 participants toured Mercer and Oliver county sites of interest during August 24-25.
  • AMPIC (Sioux Falls, SD): Jackie Buckley, Sons and Daughters program chair, reviewed activities and challenges of program. She will be submitting report to NACAA. She acknowledged NDAAEA members who assisted her.

New Business:

  • ND 4-H Foundation Board: Rick Schmidt described responsibilities of board members that include a NDAAEA representative. Rick will continue to serve as our Association rep.
  • The following NDAAEA Committee chairs or representatives gave brief oral reports containing 1) results (action taken) from Oct. 1, 2014 committee meetings, and 2) action plans from October 13, 2015 committee meetings:
    • Early Career and Social – Penny Nester
    • Communications and Public Relations – Ashley Ueckert
    • Search for Excellence – Julie Kramlich
    • 4-H and Youth – Becky Buchmann
    • Recognition and Awards – John Kringler
    • Scholarship and Life Members – Andrew Thostenson
    • Animal Science – Samantha Lahman
    • Agronomy and Pest Management – Greg Endres
    • Natural Resources, Horticulture and Sustainable Ag – Kelsie Egeland
    • Ag Economics – Crystal Schaunaman

Written committee reports were also provided for the audience and will be posted on the Association’s website.

  • Andrew Thostenson moved and Willie Huot seconded to donate $250 to 4-H Camp and reinvest $317.92 into scholarship committee’s 4-H Foundation account. Motion carried.
  • NDAAEA 2016 Professional Improvement Summer tour: Selected southeast agents will organize the event.
  • Foundation Seed Pricing Committee– NDAAEA representative: Penny Nester moved and Julie Kramlich seconded to approve Randy Grueneich for this position. Motion carried.

NDAAEA leadership elections:

  • President-Elect = Chris Augustin
  • Treasurer = Jackie Buckley
  • NE District Director = Samantha Lahman
  • SW District Director = Julie Kramlich
  • State and Area Specialists District Director = Frayne Olson

Gavel was passed to President-elect Rick Schmidt, who provided some closing comments and recognized Todd Weinmann for his work as president.
