Effect of Tillage System and Nitrogen Fertility on Canola Performance in Central North Dakota

Effect of Tillage System and Nitrogen Fertility on Canola Performance in Central North Dakota
Ezra Aberle, North Dakota State University - $6,000

Growers in central North Dakota are increasingly interested in no-till production systems, but little research data is available comparing the performance and economic viability of canola under different tillage systems. Also, work is needed to determine the economic feasibility of growing canola under these lower input conditions (e.g. reduced rates of N fertilizer).

Objective:
1. Determine the effect of tillage system and nitrogen (n) fertility on canola establishment, yield and quality, disease incidence and severity, and weed management.
