Mountrail County Homemakers
The Mountrail County Homemakers are a group of clubs in Mountrail County that are associated with the Mountrail County Extension Service. There are five organized clubs in the county - each club holds their own monthly meetings. The county organization meets twice a year - spring and fall council meetings - where major decisions are made. The Homemakers hold a yearly banquet in the spring and they sponsor an annual bake sale in the fall.
Proceeds from the bake sale and yearly dues goes towards awards and scholarships. The Homemakers sponsor three scissor awards at the Mountrail County 4-H Achievement Days. The scissors are awarded to outstanding static exhibitors in three age divisions. The Homemakers also sponsor a writing contest in the grade schools of all schools in Mountrail County. First and second prize writings are presented with a cash award.
Each year the Homemakers sponsor two $200 college scholarships to high school seniors to college juniors in Mountrail County. Depending on funding, for the past couple of years the Homemakers have sponsored a cash award to the winner of the Dessert Contest held in conjunction with the Mountrail Farm & Ranch Day hosted by the Mountrail County Ag Improvement Association.
