Do you have your exhibits ready for the Morton County Fair?  Bring them into the office and we will review them and send them to the state fair this year.  Do you have items from last year’s county fair that you would like to send to the state fair? We sure would like to see those blue ribbon exhibits at the North Dakota State Fair!  We want to fill up tables and show everyone the wonderful talents of youth from Morton County! Exhibits are due to the office on July 10.  Perishables including gardening, crops, flowers, bake goods and canning need to be in the office on Tuesday 18 by 9:00am.  This will allow us to make exhibit tags and pack everything to travel to Minot.

The concession stand schedule will be emailed out to 4-H Leaders on Monday.  I tried as best as I could to get everyone their requested shifts.  Please remember, if you have a closing shift this year, you will have first choice next year with your shift.  Almost every club requested shifts on Sunday and hardly any requests for Saturday.  In the future, every club will need to request at least one Saturday shift.

Exhibit tags will be going out in the mail on Monday.  Please watch for them and if you don’t receive them by Friday, contact the office at 701-667-3340.

You can find forms on our website at https://www.ag.ndsu.edu/mortoncountyextension/4h-and-youth/4-h-forms/animal-record-books-forms If you would like to stop in the office we can also provide you a copy of record books.

All Livestock and Horse Exhibitors are required to complete a record book and participate in interview judging on Thursday, August 3.  Failure to do so will result in no premium money awarded, ineligible for Grands or Reserves or participate in the premium sale. Policy per Morton County 4-H Council.

If you have 10 or more items to have judged, we ask that you start at 8:30am.  If you see a participant in line behind you that has a long sleeved white shirt and cowboy hat on, please have them move in front of you so they will be able to complete the interview judging process and move on to Horse Achievement Day.

We will be have a break in interview judging at 10:00am to allow for a group picture at the crow’s nest in the rodeo arena.  Hopefully, this will allow for more 4-H members to be in the group photo.  This is always fun for me as I get to see all of you in your 4-H best and all your smiles.  We use the photo as a yearend thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors of 4-H.

The Go-Getters 4-H Club would like to invite you to their 4-H meeting on Tuesday, July 11 at 6:00pm to learn how to show your rabbits at the Morton County Fair.  This is a great opportunity to gain some pointers before August 3. The event will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  The address is 2362 County Rd 136 St. Anthony, North Dakota.

4-H T-Shirts are available in the office until Thursday, July 20.  They will then be available at the North Dakota State Fair.  Shirts will again be available at the fairgrounds on Wednesday August 2 through Thursday, August 3.  The price during the month of July is $8.00 each, after July 31 they will be $10.00.  Official 4-H dress is required for 4-H Achievement Day events including livestock.  Horse Achievement Day on Thursday, August 3rd is long sleeve button down white shirt, jeans, boots, belt.  Hats can be worn for showmanship, otherwise helmets are required.

We will be having fair clean up night on Monday, July 31 at 6:00pm.  We have many tasks to complete this night including setting up the interview judging room, setting up and decorating the exhibit area, setting up stalling for the horse and livestock barns as well as prepping the concession stand for the week(typically this last task is done on Thursday, but I am asking for help on Monday evening so we are ready to go).  The fairboard provides pizza and we cover beverages for the event.  Please plan on attending, many hands make for less work and lots of fun!

Congratulations Steph Jochim!  I put everyone’s names into a drawing that attended the June Council meeting, Steph was the lucky winner of a $25.00 gift certificate to Station West!

I’m sure I am missing something so watch for an email from me later this week with more Morton County 4-H Updates!

Have a great week!
