Hippology will hold a workout on Monday, January 29 at Nishu Bowmen at 5:30pm.  All those interested in Equine Science can attend and learn a little more about Hippology and Horse Quiz bowl.

The Livestock Judging team will hold a workout on Monday, January 29 at Mandan High School, 7:00pm.  All those that plan on attending the Livestock Judging event in Napoleon on Saturday, January 27, please visit with Marissa.  We will be riding the bus down with the Mandan FFA.  The cost for registration which includes your lunch is $7.00.  Please bring that with you, Marissa will be checking you in.

Thank you for all your invitations to attend meetings.  January a lot of your meetings fell on the Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend and I had made plans with family.  Please let me know when your meetings are in February and I will try to make it to as many as I can.  I will be out of town for President’s Day weekend.

As per Morton County 4-H Council policy, 4-Hers should have attended six (6) club meetings before exhibiting. If a 4-Her belongs to more than one club (ex. regular club plus a horse club) the 4-Her must attend four regular club meetings and four workouts. (One workout = 1/2 regular club meeting.) It is up to club leaders to manage this.  The office simply partners with the Club Leaders if they find an issue with attendance.

Youth Quality Care of Animals
All youth that are participating in the North Dakota State Fair and bringing Livestock will be required to attend a YQCA meeting or complete the training on line.  Certificates will be required before you can show your animal at the North Dakota State Fair in the 4-H Division.  There will be no exceptions.  Watch for training opportunities.

Managing Control
Managing Control dates are March 1 for all Beef Market Animals.  All other livestock is May 1.  Forms will be filled out to turn into the office regarding managing control and going forward you will hear more about a tagging system for our livestock which includes all beef, sheep, goats and swine.  Pictures and tags will be required.  More information will be sent out the beginning of February.

Good Luck to the Livestock Judging team this weekend as they compete in Napoleon and to the archery team as they compete at the SW District archery match in Bismarck.
