March 3, 2020

Call to Order:  Wendy Boehm

Secretary’s Report: No report

Treasurer’s Report: $11085.89 – Motion to pass by Melissa – 2nd by Peggy

Attendance: Peggy B., Amanda W., Jenny E., Delmar S., Jeff T., Becky B., Vanessa H., Roberta T., Jim S., Renae G., Sherry G., Melissa L., Kari P., Karla M., Wendy B.

 

Old Business:

  • Recognition night: Oct 16th- Good turnout.  Book Eagles for October 9, 2020.
  • Livestock Judging:  15 judges tentative. 5-6 contests throughout the state.  Doing good & making progress
  • Archery: Wendy & Andy Boehm in charge.  54 youth signed up.  3 competitions throughout state.  State to be held in Minot

 

New Business:

  • Managing Control Deadline:  Beef, Swine, Sheep, Horse & Goats is May 1.  Dairy is June 1. Market Beef is March 15.  Must be done every year.  If pic is not attached it will now be approved.
  • Fair entry Program: Open June 1-July 10 to register fair exhibits.  No entries will be taken after July 10th due to obtaining judges.
  • Project enrollment deadline is May 1st-Need time to get moved over to FairEntry.  Animal & vet science for any horse projects. (ex. Rope halters, anything used on a horse)
  • Members need to be active in order to integrate into FairEntry so they can register their exhibits for achievement days.
  • Livestock Check in:  Held Thursday, July 30th in the middle section of the Exhibit Hall.  All livestock will be checked in.  Managing Control Papers will be checked at that time.  Anything shown on Friday will be checked in on Thursday instead of Friday morning.  Time TBD.
  • Horse Achievement Days:  MANDATORY meeting for leaders & participants on July 13 at Morton County Courthouse @ 7 pm.  Minimum of 2 members per club to help with each event.  Will require a sign in sheet to be turned into the office.
  • Youth Quality Care of Animals (YQCA):  All entered animals.  Clover buds not required. May 3rd @ New Salem Time & location TBD, May 11th @ 6:30 pm Mandan Courthouse, June 14th@ 5 pm @ Flasher Brad Doll Bldg. $3 required to participate.  $12 if done online.  Send cert to Karla.  Class takes approximately. 1 hr.  Motion by Delmar to require horse kids to participate starting 2020 - 2nd by Peggy. Passed.
  • 4H Exhibit Silent Auction:  Youth exhibits can be sold. Youth responsible for making sure their project gets to auction tables after all ribbons are placed. Youth responsible for collecting payment & delivering project to buyer.  Get banner made to bring more focus to tables. 
  • 4H Communication Arts:  District contest is May 26th @ Bis. Career Academy.  State contest is July 21 @ State Fair. Practice at 10 am.  Contest @ 1.  Bring your own sack lunch.  More info online.
  • 4H Project Expo-State contest July 20th @ State Fair
  • 4H Clothing Revue-State Contest July 20th @ State Fair
  • Extension Youth Conference- June 15-18 @ NDSU Campus.  Full scholarship to all youth who want to attend.  Youth must provide own transportation.  Age limit to attend:  Must have completed the 7th grade.
  • Babysitting Clinics-Some have waiting list to get enrolled soon.
  • Cooking Camps-Very high turnout.  Get enrolled soon.

 

Other Business:

  • Country Fest Give Back Night: July 9th- Bill Barth Ford will not be participating this year.  Need youth to volunteer from 4 pm to 11 pm.  July 11th need youth to be present for check presentation.

 

  • Camps:  Wish I had a Horse is Full.  Military Camps have their own registration so will not be done on 4H website.

 

  • Fundraisers:  Ok for now.  None needed at this time.

 

  • Fair Concession Times: 30th. 9 am – 7 pm. 31st 6:45 am – 9:45 pm. 1st 6:45 am – 9:45 pm. 2nd 8:30 to 3 pm.  Grill closes at 11 am on Sunday.  11-1 will be beverage only & 1-3 will be clean up only on Sunday.  Door locks at 1 pm.  Lunch times should start at 10:30 am but serve breakfast until previously cooked items are gone.  Do not make breakfast items after 10:30 am.

 

  • Clean-up – Clubs needed for Fairgrounds Cleanup again for Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday.

 

  • Concession Tip jar:  No tip jar this year.  Tip money goes into till if received.

 

  • Exhibits:  There will be more room as vendors will only be on outside walls.

 

  • County Commission meeting:  A few 4H members attended & sat through meeting & recited the pledged & spoke about their experiences.  If any other members are interested in doing so contact Karla to get it set up.

 

  • Assistant Treasurer Position:  Tabled from last meeting.  Discussed having an assistant treasurer to help Roberta.  Candidates are Becky Bargman & Jenny Ellison.  Motion to approve both candidates as dual assistants made by Melissa 2nd by Sherry. Motion passed. 

 

  • Next meeting- June 16th @ Morton County Fair Grounds @ 7 pm. & Sept 15th @ Morton County Courthouse @ 7 pm.
