agricultural information, Farm Service Agency, cover crops, minor cash crops, livestock management, outlook for 2018 growing season

Submitted by Craig Askim, Extension Agent/Agriculture and Natural Resources

February 28, I will be hosting an Agricultural Information Meeting at the Beulah Civic Center at 9:30 a.m. CST. This meeting is the result of the Ladies Agricultural “Scooping Up for Ideas” forum held in early January where Mercer County women requested educational information on various ag topics. There is no cost to attend and the event is open to the public. Please try to attend.

Following is a listing of the program: At 9:30 a.m. Cliff Orgaard, the Mercer County Farm Service Agency Chief Executive Officer, will explain what the Farm Service Agency is, and programs they offer. At 10:15 a.m. Ryan Buetow, North Dakota State University Dickinson Research Extension Center Cropping Systems Specialist, will speak on cover crops and minor cash crops grown in North Dakota.”  I will conclude the morning program with a presentation on “Livestock Management Tips Under Extreme Weather Conditions.” I will also provide a 2018 growing season outlook.

This program is an excellent opportunity to ask questions relating to these topics or any other agricultural questions you may have. For more information, call the Mercer County Extension office at 701-873-5195.
