2016 State Fair Results

McIntosh County Participants Earn State Honorsstate 1

 

4-H'ers Awarded for State Fair Static Exhibits

Youth receive recognition for their exhibits in a number of categories.

Champion and reserve champion honors were awarded for 4-H static exhibits at the 2016 North Dakota State Fair in Minot.

Youth entered exhibits in categories including clothing and textiles, foods, photography, crop production, animal science, citizenship and horticulture.

The following are from McIntosh County:  

  • Damian Clements, Ashley - Grand Champion - Baking and Cooking, Specialty Breads - Lefse
  • Blaine Gross, Wishek - Award of Excellence - Arts, Clay and Plasterware - Ceramic Turkey 
  • Reagen Gross, Wishek - Award of Excellence - Arts, Clay and Plasterware - Ceramic Bear Family
  • Jeremiah Shockley, Wishek - Award of Excellence -  Health - Bandaid Application Display

87 of the 124 county exhibits that qualified for the State Fair were entered for judging.  In addition to the above honors, McIntosh County Exhibitors earned 54 blue ribbons, 22 red ribbons, and 7 white ribbons at the state competition.

Youth Win Awards in 4-H Communication Arts at N.D. State Fair

Several youth bring home awards from the 4-H Communication Arts contest at the State Fair.

Youth competed in several communication categories in the 2016 4-H Communication Arts contest at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot on Sunday, July 24.

The categories included demonstration, speech, commercials, presentation software, 4-H promotion, broadcasting, interpretive reading, dramatic presentations and website design. The contest had 98 entries. The youth competed on a county and district level to qualify for the State Fair event. Kebba Beach and Damian Clements qualified to compete at the state level.

Youth Win 4-H Beef Honors at N.D. State Fair

The youth exhibited 75 cattle in the breeding division and 26 in the market division.

Youth participated in the 4-H beef show at the 2016 North Dakota State Fair in Minot on Thursday, July 28. The judge for the show was Garrett Knebel, Bozeman, Mont.

The youth entered cattle in two divisions, breeding and market, and competed in the showmanship competition in junior and senior age groups. The youth exhibited 75 cattle in the breeding division and 26 in the market division.

 4-H Consumer Choice Judging

More than 90 youth participated in the 4-H consumer choices contest at the 2016 North Dakota State Fair in Minot. The contest is designed to educate youth about making better consumer decisions. Addie Schnabel, Ashley, participated in the senior division of this event as an individual as well as on a team with other counties.
