How to use Certified forms

Meeting Re-certification Qualifications

Each year the NDSU Extension Master Gardener Program reports to the national Master Gardener Program. We tally volunteer hours worked, educational experiences given and received, and food donations. Sending in forms that meet the minimum requirements by the listed deadline of November 15 guarantees re-certification! If you've moved this year, be sure to include your updated address.

Tips

Certified MG's need to complete a form for Volunteering AND a form for Continuing Education. Volunteer hours must be accumulated within ND or a county bordering ND. Continuing Ed hours can be from any state, online, conference, etc.

You CAN count drive time, set up/tear down time, and actual work/teaching time within your hourly calculation. You CAN count research/creation time for articles written, talks given, PPts created, etc.

Turning in less than required

By turning in less than the minimum of either volunteer or continuing education hours, you remain "active" on the mailing list but fall into an unofficial hiatus.

Two years of under-reporting or non-reporting

After two years of not reporting volunteer hours and continuing education within the minimums, you are removed from the mailing list and lose your active Master Gardener status.

Hiatus

If you are experiencing health challenges or family issues that prevent you from volunteering, please contact us to request a hiatus season. While you are on hiatus, please do not turn in any volunteer forms.
