How can the NDSU Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Extension Service help local entrepreneurs?

Many inventors and entrepreneurs have limited capital to start their businesses.  They may have a great product idea, but for that idea to become a commercial success, many things need to happen.  Drawings and prototypes typically need to be made, reliability testing needs to be done, and startup plans need to be established.  NDSU is well suited to help with these tasks.  Student capstone projects can be launched from the engineering college to help with the design, NDSU labs can be utilized for prototyping and reliability testing, factory process and layout design.  The business college can be utilized for business plans, marketing plans, startup plans.   This is a great way for NDSU to commercialize any technological advances that they may have and it also facilitates the transition of ideas to commercialization and solid economic development within the state. In addition to the resources available within the university, we can help to identify the next step in the process and also other resources within the state which may be able to provide assistance.
