The Langdon Research Extension Center (LREC) has collected daily weather information since 1896. It is an official weather observatory site for the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS and NDAWN weather collection sites, both located at the LREC, are not directly comparable to each other. The NWS site is located in the yard and observation readings are made at 8:00 am daily. The NDAWN site is located 1/4 mile to the NW in an open field. The NDAWN site is computer based and values are taken on a continuous basis throughout the day and reported on a 24-hour period extending from midnight to midnight Central Standard Time (CST). Daylight Saving Time is never used. Disclaimer: Many environmental factors have an affect on the readings gathered such as wind, rain angle, etc. Therefore, the LREC cannot guarantee 100% accuracy of this data.
