eXtension - It's Worth Your Time

As a member of the eXtension Institutional Team, I’m sending a note of encouragement to all staff across North Dakota to learn more about eXtension and find out how you can become involved!

The foundation of eXtension work is the network of support it offers to both county and state staff and specialists. One area that I find very useful in my county work is the weekly news articles. If you need a topic for a weekly news article, take a look at the “News” link on the www.extension.org home page.

If you are new to Extension work, read about the various Communities of Practice (CoP). Rather than working in isolation and possibly duplicating efforts across states, CoP members have a more holistic view of programming across the nation. You can use that knowledge to import or adapt resources from other states to address your own programming needs.

This broader perspective results in an opportunity to assess needs and strengths for the nation. Programs may be developed and disseminated via eXtension to address specific needs and gaps. This ability to assess and then create together benefits all of the CoP members, and ultimately, the clients that we serve.

To learn more about eXtension please view this video that was shared with staff at a recent Extension conference: http://tinyurl.com/3e5nbyz

Being involved with eXtension is a give and take. Hopefully you can find ways to contribute as well as resources to use.

If you have any questions about working with eXtension, please contact me or any of the other NDSU eXtension institutional team members.
