Breakout Session Speaker

JHorntvedtJody Horntvedt is an Extension educator with the University of Minnesota. Her program focus is in leadership and civic engagement. She primarily serves 11 counties in northwestern Minnesota.

Her work centers  on enhancing the leadership skills of people in communities, with an emphasis on enhancing the leadership and collaboration skills of community board and council members to assist them in developing new skills for working together.

Horntvedt’s passion is engaging with people in communities. Since 1994, she has coordinated the Red River Valley Emerging Leadership Program (RRVELP) for local leaders from a 21-county area of northwestern and west-central Minnesota. The program has nearly 1,100 alumni.

She also is the program staff person for the National Extension Leadership Development (NELD) program for the north-central region of the U.S. NELD includes programming in multiple states and other countries.

In addition, Horntvedt is a consultant for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Colors Matrixx. She also is a certified trainer for the Pew Foundation’s LeadershipPLENTY curriculum and the Study Circles programs designed through Everyday Democracy.

She has a bachelor of science degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a masters of education degree in Human Resource Development from the University of Minnesota.
