Ambassador Applications Due
Ambassador applications are due May 15th to the Center for 4-H for Selections. Selections is held during the 4-H Extension Youth Conference in June at NDSU.

There will be a clinic on Ranch Riding, Trail and English held at the Valley City Winter Show building. Kayla Krueger, instructor at UM Crookston, will be the clinician. Hold the day – more info to come and it will be mailed out to all counties. There will be limited number of horse/riders, but unlimited auditors. Riding will cost some, auditors will be free.

State 4-H Communication Arts Event
The state 4-H Communication Arts event will be held during the time of the North Dakota State Fair, but not as part of the fair. First place participants from the district events will be invited to participate in demonstrations, speech, interpretive reading, dramatic presentations, mass media, electronic presentations, and FishTank: Youth Entrepeneurship.

State 4-H/FFA Land Judging Contest
The state 4-H land judging contest is held in conjunction with FFA. This is a tentative date, but is typically held the first Thursday in August. Site varies each year and is not determined yet. The County listed below is the county which hosted the event in 2018. Dr. Franzen prepares practice sites – available for the day prior and morning of the contest.

Youth field day at the Absaraka Horticulture Research Farm
The field day will provide demonstrations and hands-on activities focused on horticultural plant identification and the basics of plant growth and pollinators. Potential activities may include tree identification, tree pruning and planting demonstrations, a drone demonstration, tours of the high tunnel, hydroponic salad table demonstration, plant propagation exercises, pollinator lessons and observations, tour of NDSU fruit research, weed identification, and organic production.
