Weigh 2 Change

Weigh 2 Change is a structured program developed specifically to prevent type 2 diabetes. Trained lifestyle coaches from the NDSU Extension Service lead the program to help you change certain aspects of your lifestyle like eating healthier, reducing stress, and getting more physical activity. The program also includes group support from others who share your goals and struggles. This is not a fad diet or an exercise class. And it’s not a quick fix. It’s a year long program focused on long-term changes and lasting results. A year might sound like a long commitment, but learning new habits, gaining new skills, and building confidence takes time.

Calf Backgrounding and Feeding Seminar

With drought, lack of hay and volatile market prices, North Dakota cattle producers are faced with difficult choices.

One option is to add value to the calves by feeding them in North Dakota instead of selling them. To address this issue, the North Dakota State University Extension Service is holding a series of local seminars on feeding and backgrounding calves and cow feed management.

Topics for the meeting are:

Feeding Calf-growing Rations – Karl Hoppe, Extension Livestock Systems Specialist, NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center

Backgrounding Calf Budgets – John Dhuyvetter, Extension Livestock Systems Specialist, NDSU North Central Research Extension Center

Cow Herd Feed Management – Janna Kincheloe, Extension Livestock Specialist, NDSU Hettinger Research Extension Center

Cattle Price Outlook and Livestock Risk Protection Insurance – Tim Petry, Extension Livestock Marketing Economist
