North Dakota State University (NDSU) has a long and proud history of supporting the people of North Dakota. "For the Land and its People" was the theme for NDSU's centennial in 1990, and the meaning still holds. More recently, NDSU has referred to itself as an "Engaged University," a university which is involved in supporting the business and community activities unfolding across the state.
IBID is organized and staffed to provide information, technical assistance and resources for North Dakota's communities and entrepreneurs.
Because day-to-day operations consume so much time and energy, a company that is ready to adopt new technologies or develop a new product finds it difficult to accomplish that. This is where IBID can help. NDSU is a source of high quality unbiased advice, business and technical assistance, and even proprietary research.
The primary service is one-on-one consulting in identifying and helping solve problems. IBID can provide access to expert, informed consultants on problems ranging from community development, quality assurance, inventory control, plant layout, human resources and product design to the most involved questions concerning technology upgrades and electronic communications.
NDSU Extension Service Center for Community Vitality, as its role is to utilize the human and technical resources of NDSU to help individual communities, large and small, accomplish the communities' purpose.

If your community is just beginning the planning process, NDSU has resources available to assist you with the strategic planning and/or the business retention and expansion process.
