North Dakota Home Garden Variety Trials

To identify the best varieties for gardeners, it makes sense to test them in gardens.

Spinach

Fall Vegetables!

North Dakota State University has launched Project Popeye.

Our main goal is to encourage families to grow vegetables. Any gardener can receive a free packet of vegetable seeds to grow this fall. We have spinach, radish and Asian vegetables to try.

We especially would like to encourage kids to grow vegetables. Every child may get their own packet of seeds.

Download this menu. Once you've determined your selections, please order your seeds here: https://forms.gle/cnKsaLTTxH9GVRtf7

We encourage any greens to be sown in early August, the radish to be sown by August 20.

At the end of the year, please let us know what you liked and did not like about the variety. Let us know if you recommend the variety for other gardeners in our region.

We are ready to ship seeds now. Seed supplies are limited and will be mailed on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you have any questions, please contact Tom Kalb, Department of Plant Sciences.
