Communication Arts Program
Hettinger County 4-H members are encouraged to participate in 4-H Communication Arts. The 2020 District Communication Arts Contest will be held on May 28th at the New England Public School. Registration at 4:00, the contest will start at 4:30 pm.
The 4-H Communication Arts Program will:
- Help participants develop communication skills that are useful throughout their lifetime;
- Provide participants an opportunity to gather and organize information,
- Provide participants an opportunity to gather and organize information, equipment and props for public presentations;
- Develop participant’s confidence in making public presentations; and
- Evaluate and enhance communication skills.
The Hettinger County Communication Arts program is open to any youth involved in Extension youth programs. It includes two age divisions: Preteen Division (youth ages 8-12 years old, before September 1st of the current 4-H enrollment year) and the Teen Division (youth ages 13-18 years old, before September 1st of the current 4-H enrollment year).
Hettinger County offers a “recitation only” category for Cloverbud members. This category is non-competitive and provides equal recognition for all participants. This optional category provides young participants an opportunity to make presentations without the task of finding or writing material and without the stress of competition. Recitation of the 4-H Pledge or Pledge of Allegiance is appropriate.
